VESPA
All the models produced during the first 65 years are described in detail, including the variations introduced during their evolution. Each model is listed, highlighting the most important features to identify it, as well as a technical sheet containing about thirty characteristics. To find your way around the various series more clearly and immediately, production is presented by decade and in each, the models appear in ascending order of displacement. This presentation also includes the models built under license abroad. For the first time, we also discover, from decade to decade, the evolution of techniques and styles, as well as a historical and social analysis of the Vespa's journey, from the past to the present day. The first part of this volume is dedicated to the genesis of its production, from the studies that led to the first prototypes to the role of the most important protagonists of this saga. It was essential to dedicate a significant part to communication, whether through advertising or the famous calendar that helped create the myth, and which are illustrated with significant examples. But the Vespa has also entered the Arts, in particular cinema and music, and some curiosities can be admired in this volume. Other pages retrace the important events in which the Vespa played a leading role: from the creation of the club dedicated to it - in Italy and abroad - to the great expeditions, from competitions to speed records, from acrobatics to rallies. This book is completed by the portrait of close relatives of the Vespa, such as the three-wheeled Ape and the lesser-known Moscone, a speedboat, as well as by an evocation of the Pondetera museum, which preserves the historical memory of the Vespa. The conclusion of this volume is dedicated to the Vespa model made for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy (2011). The whole constitutes a unique reference text for fans of the brand, and will fascinate Vespa enthusiasts, those who have it at heart and have enabled, in 65 years, its sale of 17 million units.
