Between 1945 and 1965, the architect Le Corbusier planned a total of five housing units in Marseille, Rezé, Berlin, Briey-en-Forêt, and Firminy. The Unité prototype in Marseille was completed in 1952; its revolutionary concept as a vertical city with completely novel solutions to social, aesthetic, structural, and urban planning issues sparked a wide-ranging international debate.

Peter Ottmann shows Arthur Zalewski's photographic take on all five housing units.
