One of Andrée Putman's latest house projects, based on plans, drawings and photos of an amazing apartment in San Sebastián (Basque Country, Spain).
This publication tells the story of one of Andrée Putman's last projects, an apartment in the coastal city of San Sebastián. The book includes the original drawings created to plan the house and photographs of the completed project. The house remains both contemporary and timeless.
Andrée Putman was born in 1925 in Paris. Abandoning her initial plans for a musical career, she worked from the 1950s onwards as a journalist and designer for the magazines "Elle" and "L'Oeil." Open to the art of her time, she associated with many artists such as Pierre Alechinsky, Bram Van Velde, Alberto Giacometti, and Niki de Saint Phalle. Working as a stylist in 1958 for the Prisunic department store chain and then for the Mafia agency in 1968, she intuitively identified many future talents (Issey Miyake, Ossie Clark, Claude Montana, Thierry Mugler). From the 1980s onwards, Andrée Putman developed numerous projects in interior architecture, renovation, and the transformation of spaces into cultural venues, which gradually contributed to her growing international reputation (Morgans Hotel, New York; Azzedine Alaïa boutiques, Paris; Museum of Contemporary Art of Bordeaux; La Concorde; Museum of Fine Arts of Rouen). In 1978, she founded the design firm ECART and revived the works of forgotten artists from the 1930s.
